Peacekeeper Program Component Effect Report #5 Facilities Modification/Construction - Other
Part of the F.E. Warren AFB Project Metadata project
Author(s): Norton Air Force Base; URS-Berger
Year: 1984
Summary
This report covers the Facilities Modification/Construction - Other Component of the Peacekeeper Program, which includes construction of the Integrated Support Complex (ISC) and Contractor Support Area (CSA) Shops and modifications to the Communications Maintenance Facility (CMF) (Building 1250). Based upon onsite archeological survey and subsurface testing, the Air Force, in consultation with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), has determined that no archeological properties listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) will be affected by the Proposed Action. Seven architectural properties that are eligible for listing in the NRHP (Buildings 801-806 and 808) will be visually affected by new Program facilities. These effects are moderated through facilities design following guidelines established in the Peacekeeper Installation Planning and Design Guide. In addition, the historic properties are slated for demolition prior to 1990 under a congressionally mandated, Air Force-wide program to replace all World War II wooden structures. Compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act pertaining to the direct effects of demolition is not a Peacekeeper responsibility. Demolition of most or all of these buildings will eliminate Peacekeeper visual effects. Therefore, the Program impacts are considered short-term effects.
