Architectural Survey and Evaluation of Selected Facilities. New Jersey Army National Guard. Final. Volume I

Summary

The New Jersey Army National Guard contracted HDR, Inc. to complete an architectural survey and evaluation of selected facilities in New Jersey. The investigation was completed in accordance with Sections 106 and 110 of National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office (NJHPO) guidelines for architectural history survey. Field investigations included photo documentation of existing conditions and completion of NJHPO Individual Structure Survey Forms.

In total, 61 buildings were surveyed and evaluated at 28 installations across New Jersey. Surveyed resources were evaluated for National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility on an individual basis and for their potential to contribute to one or more historic districts. The report included an evaluation of Hangar 307 in the Lakehurst area of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL), Jackson Township, Ocean County. Built in 1957, Hangar 307 is a three-story rectangular steel hangar with a low pitched gable roof supported by a Howe truss system. Hangar 307 was determined not eligible for NRHP listing. Volume I contains the main report text and appendices A and B.
