Summary

This is a letter report detailing the archaeological clearence and data recovery that will be done for the transmission line.

There are 35 sites located on the Coolidge-Hayden and southern portion of the Superior-Hayden 115kV transmission lines (southeast of Tower 74. Of those 35 sites, four of them extend into both transmission rights-of-way.

The attached list of the archaeological sites and identifies current plans and restrictions for construction activities in the vicinity of the sites. At this time 13 sites are slated for data recovery. To minimize costs, we have excluded the large sites from excavation and marked them for avoidance. For a few sites we were able to avoid expensive data recovery by noting that an archaeological monitor must be present during blading of the access road. By the time we have completed our activities, the majority of the transmission line will have an archaeological clearance for all future construction activities.
