Summary

Lincoln National Forest and Holloman AFB archaeologists conducted cultural resources inventory of 1,050 acres on the HAFB Main Base between 7 February 1996 and 28 January 1997, including resurvey of 20 acres. Two noncontiguous units were surveyed, resulting in the documentation of 13 new sites (12 on Holloman AFB and one on Bureau of Land Management property) and 61 isolated occurrences, and revisitation of six previously recorded sites (none were reevaluated). The new sites included 11 prehistoric/ aboriginal and two military. Three obsidian artifacts were submitted for source analysis, including one from a site that was not associated with the current project.
