Summary
This is an abstract from the "SAA 2024: Individual Abstracts" session, at the 89th annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology.
Channel Islands National Park has been steadily increasing tribal involvement into all aspects of archeological field work through a series of cooperative agreements, funding collaborative survey work, monitoring of vulnerable sites, hands-on treatment and stabilization, and broader efforts related to access and traditional use. This paper shares lessons learned on successfully navigating co-stewardship efforts, and reports on results from the 2023 field season on Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa Islands within Channel Islands National Park, California.
