Summary
Willow Mat, Accession AZRU-00020, Catalog #3406. Other No: [Unknown]. Analyzed by Laurie Webster, 2006. Large section of a sewn willow mat with two intact sides and one intact end. At the intact end, ten spaced cords terminate in overhand knots. The latter also has an attached cordage handle with the appearance of sisal that could be a modern addition. No smoke blackening. Measurements: L 49.0 (inc), W 103.0 (com) CM. Images: AZRU20-3406A: willow mat in box, upper end intact. AZRU20-3406B: one intact corner showing cord handle. AZRU20-3406C: other intact corner showing cord handle. AZRU20-3406D: intact end showing attachment of one end of cord handle. AZRU20-3406E: intact end showing attachment of other end of cord handle. AZRU20-3406F: detail of incomplete end showing corner and broken cords. Recovered from Room [Unknown], Aztec West Ruin. Artifact from Aztec Ruins National Monument but of unknown provenience.
