Perishable: Twined Sandal AZRU8-2828

Summary

Twined Sandal, Accession AZRU-00008, Catalog #2828. Morris FS 5305. Analyzed by Laurie Webster, 2006. Distorted twined sandal decorated with two pairs of crosswise brown bands. Raised diamond design on underside. Toe finish missing. Double Heel strap of 2Z-S yucca. Decorative cupped heel worked in countered twining. Relatively small size. Measurements: L 21.0, W 8.5 CM. Morris noted that Room 189 “contained the largest quantity of perishable objects from the Chaco period that have to date been taken from any chamber in the western half of the pueblo. [Later occupants] laid down a 1 to 3 inch floor of adobe upon the earlier refuse and a bin was built up in the northwest corner” (Morris1928:371).
