Year: 2012
Summary
This Flare rim bowl is an example of Style III from the Eby Ranch site. The Eby Ranch site (sometimes mistakenly referred to as the Ely site) is a Classic Mimbres village in Grants County, southwestern New Mexico, excavated during the 1920s and 1930s by Earl Morris (Carlson 1965) and V. G. Tannich (separately) and later by A. M. Thompson (Brody 2004; http://library.lib.asu.edu/record=b4770839~S3). The Eby Ranch site dates from about A.D. 1000 to 1130 and includes around 75 Classic Mimbres rooms. There are several additional sites on the Eby family ranch. Eby 2 and Eby 4 (a.k.a. Eby A and Eby B) were excavated in the 1920s by Earl Morris (Carlson 1965). Many of the Eby Ranch site bowls, as well as the notes from Morris?s excavations, are in the University of Colorado Museum. Carlson, Roy L. (1965) Four Mimbres Sites: The Earl Morris Excavations of 1926. Manuscript on file, University of Colorado Museum, Boulder.
