Site 23PO309 Investigation 1967

Summary

An archaeological investigation of site 23PO309 in Polk County, Missouri, was conducted in 1967, prior to the construction of Stockton Lake; however, there is no report or documentation associated with this investigation. The VCP could not determine why this investigation was initiated or who supervised the fieldwork. An Archaeological Survey of Missouri Survey Sheet for 23PO309 that was available from the State Historic Preservation Office revealed that Rolland E. Pangborn recorded 23PO309, a village site on the bank of the Little Sac River, in 1964 (Pangborn 1964). Today, site 23PO309 is under Stockton Lake.

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the artifact catalog, artifact report, and select artifact photographs. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include additional artifact photographs and administrative files.
