During late fall and winter of 1977, personnel from the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, conducted limited test excavations and controlled surface collections along portions of the Salado Creek drainage in northern Bexar County. Four specific areas were examined, as they were soon to be inundated or critically altered by proposed floodwater retarding structures. A total of four terrace sites, two small rockshelters and two rockshelter complexes were...
L'agriculture de l'age du fer (1982)
The Agriculture of the Iron Age Experimental archaeology endeavors to improve the techniques of excavation and analysis by trying to find the conditions in which archaeological structures have been formed. Rather than simulating the lives of men at the Iron Age, Peter Reynolds' team preferred to develop an experimental farm to take into account and study all the farm activities of that period. The temporal dimension of this project makes it possible to study the evolution of a plant or animal...

MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AND AMS RADIOCARBON AGE DETERMINATION OF FEATURE FILL SAMPLES FROM SITE 48SW7095, LOCALITY 7619-2, SWEETWATER COUNTY, WYOMING (2015)
Site 48SW7095 is a short-term prehistoric camp located along raised sandy deposits overlooking Laundry Draw in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. Occupational evidence is visible on the surface, although silty deposits on the lower drainage terraces contain some buried cultural materials (John Greer, personal communication June 15, 2015). Ashy fill from cores into the center of two hearths were submitted for macrofloral analysis and AMS radiocarbon age determination. Samples are expected to range from...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF A HEARTH AT SITE 24PH2975, FORT PECK, MONTANA (2007)
The fill of a hearth at site 24PH2975 in northeast Montana was examined for macrofloral remains to provide subsistence information concerning plant resources utilized by the prehistoric occupants of this site. Charcoal from the hearth fill also was identified and processed for AMS radiocarbon analysis to identify woods burned as fuel and an age of occupation.
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 26EK6902, NEVADA (2002)
Samples from three excavation units at site 26EK6902 in northeast Nevada were floated to recover charred macrofloral remains that would provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the occupants of this site. The site consists of a prehistoric lithic scatter/camp and an historic period trash scatter. Previous excavations of the prehistoric component yielded a variety of artifacts including reduction flakes, four bifaces, two hammerstones, seven core fragments, two grinding...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 48SU4435, WYOMING (2002)
Samples from the fill of four hearth features at site 48SU4435 in southwestern Wyoming were floated to recover macrofloral remains. This site is a prehistoric camp containing hearth features, lithic debris, fire-cracked rock, and bone fragments. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning plant resources that might have been processed in the hearths and woods burned as fuel.
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE "STAMPFLI SITE," PLUMAS COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (2004)
A single sample from a possible midden deposit near the center of the "Stampfli Site" in Plumas County, northern California, was examined for macrofloral remains. This site is located in the southern portion of Indian Valley, which was previously marshy. Today, the valley floor has been selectively dried by channeling water for farming and ranching, while the margins have been developed for rural residences. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning plant resources that...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A SAMPLE FROM SITE CA-SMA-71, SAN MATEO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (2017)
Site CA-SMA-71 (Sánchez Adobe) lies in the Sánchez Adobe Park Historic District in the City of Pacifica, San Mateo County, California. Both prehistoric and historic components are represented, including intact deposits, features and a Native American human burial (Breana Campbell, personal communication September 26, 2017). Fill from a pit feature containing fire affected rocks, shell, charcoal, and ash was submitted for macrofloral analysis to identify food and fuel related activities of site...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A SAMPLE FROM THE TANYA SITE, CA-SHA-1991, SHASTA COUNTY, SACRAMENTO VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (2019)
CA-SHA-1991 (the Tanya Site) is located along Olney Creek in the Sacramento Valley of Shasta County, California. The local environment is primarily oak woodland interspersed with areas of manzanita chaparral. This site is believed to be a late prehistoric period occupation associated with the Wintu tribe. One liter of sediment was collected in 1996 and is associated with the floor of a large, circular dance or assembly house. This sample was sent to PaleoResearch Institute for flotation and...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF FEATURE FILL AT SITE CA-TEH-45, CALIFORNIA (2000)
The floated light fractions from fill of a prehistoric archaeological feature at site CA-TEH- 45 in the northern Sacramento Valley, California, were examined for macrofloral remains. The two macrofloral samples represent areas of white ashy soil and red soil in a possible cooking area. Charcoal from the feature fill yielded a calibrated radiocarbon date of AD 795-1235. Macrofloral analysis is used to determine woods burned as fuel and plant resources that might have been processed in this...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF MIDDEN FILL AT SITE CA-PLA-668, CALIFORNIA (2004)
Five column samples recovered from midden deposits at prehistoric site CA-PLA-668 in north-central California were examined for macrofloral remains. This site contained bedrock mortars, suggesting a Late Period occupation post-dating approximately 2,000 BP. Macrofloral analysis of the midden deposits will be used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants.
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM 41WM908, TEXAS (1999)
Three soil samples from Site 41WM908 in central Texas were floated to recover charcoal and other charred macrofloral remains. This site appears to have been utilized by the prehistoric occupants to quarry chert for the manufacture of stone tools. The macrofloral samples were recovered from areas of charred anomalies to determine if these areas represent prehistoric features.
