Cultural Resource Survey of the Shade Tree Tract (2006)
In January, August, and September 2005, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted a cultural resources survey of the 142.1-hectare Shade Tree tract, located on Johns Island, Charleston County, South Carolina. This survey included a background review and the systematic excavation of shovel tests at 5, 15, and 30 meter intervals across the upland portions of the project tract. This project includes materials relating to the 1980 cultural resources survey of the U.S. Naval Reservation, Bloodsworth Island in Dorchester County, Maryland. The project identified four archaeological sites, 46 historic artifact find spots and one isolated prehistoric artifact.
