Test excavations were conducted at six sites to determine their National Register eligibility, prior to a land exchange. Three of the sites, AR-03-12-04-1397/AZ 0:12:81 (ASM), AR-03 -12-04-1403/AZ 0:12:82 (ASM), and AR-03-12-04-1521/AZ 0:12:85 (ASM), demonstrated low overall artifact density, small site size and an absence of subsurface features, and are therefore recommended as ineligible for National Register consideration. At first glance, the potential for sub-Mogollon Rim archaeology sites is not promising. Thompson’s Point on the Vermont side of Lake Champlain is an ecologically important peninsula about 1.5 miles long. Its dolomite cliffs support a rare upland natural community called Limestone Bluff Cedar-Pine Forest.
