Summary
Between February 16 and March 12, 1999, a crew of ten to twelve archaeologists from SWCA, Inc., Environmental Consultants undertook archaeological test excavations at a portion of site AZ AA:12:111 (ASM) located within the Operations Area at the Ina Road Water Pollution Control Facility (Treatment Plant). A crew of ten to twelve archaeologists began excavations on February 16, 1999, and proceeded as outlined in the testing plan. The testing was designed to identify and evaluate buried cultural deposits that will be affected by Phase I and Phase II construction of structures involved in the expansion of Pima County’s Ina Road treatment plant. Our excavations targeted cultural deposits in six study areas as defined by the location of the structures referenced in Table 1.1. The excavations included exploration of four levels of Archaic deposits, and one historic period canal.
