The purpose of the research conducted primarily at sites 12G9 and 12G10 was to document the activities of the Battle of the Mississinewa and the related role of the Miami and Delaware villages along the Mississinewa Reservoir in Grant and Wabash counties. Upon the passing of budget item H.E.B. 1102, the principal investigator, B.K. Swartz Jr., initiated research with a field school from Ball State University in 1975. This project consists of those artifacts found during surveys conducted in 1981 and a subsequent field school excavation conducted in 1983 by Ball State University. The project primarily consisted of artifacts from sites 12WB90 and 12WB120, but while processing another site was found, 12WB132.
