MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE COMB WASH GREAT HOUSE, SITE 42SA24756, SOUTHEAST UTAH (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman. Jaime Dexter.

Three flotation samples and twelve botanic samples were examined from the Comb Wash Great House, site 42Sa24756, in southeast Utah. This post-Chaco era house was built like other Pueblo III pueblos; however, it has a prominent location surrounded by a community of small sites like other Chacoan great houses. Macrofloral and botanic samples were recovered from a room in the Great House (Feature 14) filled with a large, complex trash deposit/midden. These samples will be compared with...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSES AT EDGE OF THE CEDARS PUEBLO (1989)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. PaleoResearch Institute.

Twenty-six pollen and twenty-two macrofloral samples were analyzed from 428a700, Edge of the Cedars Pueblo, in southeast Utah. These samples represent a variety of contexts, including three midden areas, three rooms, several vessels and groundstone, and isolated features and work spaces. Analyses focuses on identification of subsistence items, as well as identification patterns of activities involving specific plants. Identification of both cultigens and native plants was important in...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT BLUFF BENCH, SITE 42SA17725, SOUTHEAST UTAH (1996)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Thomas E. Moutoux.

Samples from Site 42SA 17725 in southeast Utah were analyzed for pollen and macrofloral remains. This site is believed to represent a habitation site and consisted of pit structures, fire hearths, and a midden deposit. Radiocarbon dates obtained on charred material and wood from the various features suggest that the site was occupied during the Late Archaic/Basketmaker II interval, with calibrated dates ranging from 405 B.C to A.D. 160. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to address...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 42SA22702, SOUTHEAST UTAH (1995)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Thomas E. Moutoux.

Site 42SA22702 is located along Recapture Creek in the Blanding Basin of southeast Utah. Soil from a roughly circular, culturally stained feature was sampled for pollen and macrofloral remains. The significance and timing of the feature is currently unresolved, though several sherd fragments suggest a general prehistoric cultural affiliation. The pollen and macrofloral work was undertaken to provide subsistence information that would aid in determining the site's function.

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 42SA3775, A LATE BASKETMAKER III PITHOUSE COMPLEX IN SOUTHEAST UTAH (1998)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman.

Samples from site 42SA3775 in southeastern Utah were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains to recover evidence of subsistence. This site represents a single component, late Basketmaker III pithouse complex with at least three typical Basketmaker III pithouses and associated features. Sediment and botanic samples were collected from the floors of living features and fills of various interior features to examine the archaeobotanic record for evidence of plant processing activities.

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE MORMON TANK PROJECT, SITE 42SA22548, SOUTHEAST UTAH (1995)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman.

Pollen and macrofloral samples were examined from firepit fill at Site 42SA22548 in southeast Utah. A pollen control sample from the modern surface also was examined. Site 42SA22548 is a multicomponent site where subsistence activities are believed to have revolved around wild food procurement and processing. The prehistoric component of the site contained two cultural horizons. Two Mesa Verde Anasazi sherds suggest that the upper horizon is associated with a Pueblo II-III occupation,...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM SITES IN THE LISBON VALLEY, UTAH (2013)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman.

Samples from sites 42Sa22846, 42Sa22859, 42Sa22862, and 48Sa22864 in the Lisbon Valley of southeast Utah were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. Pollen and macrofloral samples were recovered from upper and bottom levels of fill in one of two adjoining slab-lined cists at 42Sa22846, from fill of both a slab-lined roasting pit and an inner slab-lined pit at 42Sa22859, from fill of a possible unprepared hearth at 42Sa22862, and from fill in a stone circle that might represent a pine cone...

POLLEN, MACROFLORAL, AND COPROLITE ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM THE BLUFF GREAT HOUSE SITE, 42SA22674, SOUTHEAST UTAH (2004)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Jaime Dexter.

The Bluff Great House, site 42SA22674, is located along the San Juan River in southeast Utah. POLLEN, MACROFLORAL, AND PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSES AT SITE 42GR2069, UTAH (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman.

Pollen, starch, macrofloral, and/or protein residue analyses were conducted on samples representing three pit structures, features within the pit structures, and extramural features at site 42Gr2069 in southeast Utah. Radiocarbon ages range from 1820 ± 40 to 1980 ± 50 BP. Pollen, starch, and macrofloral analyses were targeted towards obtaining subsistence information for use of the vegetal portion of the resource base from several of the structures and features. Protein residue analysis was...

POLLEN, MACROFLORAL, PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS, AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING AT SITE 42GR3164 ON THE PROFESSOR VALLEY RANCH, SOUTHEAST UTAH (2004)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Cynthia Adkins.

A soil column at site 42GR3164 in the Professor Valley Ranch, southeast Utah, was sampled for pollen and macrofloral remains. The soil column was placed in an area that is believed to have been the location where a large comer-notched knife made of gray chert was previously found by workers installing an irrigation pipe in a hayfield, and it appeared to be at the edge of prehistoric site 42GR3164, which had been recorded at an earlier date. The irrigation pipe trench was re-opened, and a...
