Site 42SAl6262, radiocarbon dated to an age of 1340 ± 60 BP (610 AD), consisted of a pithouse and a concentration of sherds and charcoal. The site was located in the path of a proposed highway in San Juan County, Utah, between Bluff and Blanding on the north side of Recapture Wash. The local vegetation consists primarily of pinyon/juniper and grasses. Samples from Sites 42Sa23300 and 42Sa23301 in San Juan County, Utah, were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. Site 42Sa23300 consists of a basin-shaped fire pit and associated midden deposits. Site 42Sa23301 yielded a single hearth. Pollen and macrofloral analyses of hearth fill are used to provide information concerning plant resources that may have been processed in these features. The midden deposits were sampled to identify plants discarded during occupation.
