Two macrofloral samples were examined from deflated hearths at site CA-KER-6134 in Kern County, California. This site is a Kawaiisu temporary campsite dating to the Rose Spring Period (ca. 1,500-1,000 B.P.) or the Late Period (1,000 B.P. to present). Macrofloral analysis was conducted in order to determine possible plant resources available to the occupants of this site.

Site 42Ws4283, situated in the St. George Basin of southwestern Utah, represents a Southern Paiute occupation. A 2-sigma radiocarbon age of AD 1420-1650 is reported for this site. Three pollen and one macrofloral samples were examined from a deflated hearth, a mano, and the modern ground surface to describe vegetation in the vicinity at the time of occupation and also identify plants processed in the hearth and with the mano.
