During April 1993, Advanced Sciences, Inc. conducted a cultural resource and threatened and endangered species survey of six proposed and existing Lightning Early Warning System (LEWS) sensor locations scattered throughout land leased by Sandia National Laboratories/New Mexico (SNL/NM). In 1982, Cultural Heritage Research Services, Inc. conducted an on-ground prehistoric and historical archaeological cultural resources survey within the Madera Canyon and Archeological Area IV Project Areas on Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
