Archaeological Field Reconnaissance at Miami County Recreation Area 1979
Part of: US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District VCP
This collection is referred to as "Archaeological Field Reconnaissance at Miami County Recreation Area 1979.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is a half (0.5) of a linear inch.
The document collection included correspondence requesting a records search with a map of the Department of Natural Resources project areas E15-702A and E15-702B, a letter with a cost estimate for the records search, and a final report with background information, maps, findings, and recommendations. Although the final report included multiple project areas (i.e., E15-702B, E15-702C, E15-702D, E15–702F, E15–702G, and E15-702J), the archival project focuses on Francis Slocum State Recreation Area (i.e., E15-702B). Project E15 702A is not included in the final report because Ball State University felt a reconnaissance was unnecessary.
The documents were originally housed in an acidic folder inside a plastic bag. The letter of reply with cost estimates was typed on thin paper that was tattered at the top and bottom edges. There were staple marks present at the left corner of all pages of the final report. The letter of reply was cleaned with Absorene then mended by applying mending tape to the top, bottom, and sides of the letter. The correspondence requesting a records search, and the accompanying map were cleaned with Absorene. The final report was also cleaned with Absorene, and mending tape was applied in the upper left corner of each sheet.
The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the finding aid and scanned asset key. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include an accession file, correspondence, document folder listing, initial data sheet, and notes. For additional information on these materials, refer to the Finding Aid.
