Monroe County Survey 1976
Part of: US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District VCP
This collection is referred to as "Monroe County Survey 1976.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one and a half linear (1 ½) inches. There was no report present in the Monroe County Survey 1976 document collection. There were no oversized or photographic materials removed from this collection. The only documents belonging to this collection were Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology catalog and specimen cards, which were originally housed with the associated artifact collection. The cards were removed from the artifact collection and integrated into the document collection. The catalog cards were wiped clean to remove any possible contaminants from being stored in the same bags as the artifacts. The cards were then stored in acid free plastic bags. The cards were originally processed as part of the Lake Monroe 1976 document collection; however, it was later realized that these catalog cards were produced as a separate archaeological investigation. When removed from the artifact collection, the catalog cards were kept separate according to their box designations. All catalog cards were then placed with the documents from the Lake Monroe subject property. When reviewing the accession numbers listed on the cards, the processing archivist realized that several of the catalog and specimen cards contained accession numbers that were not part of the Lake Monroe 1976 document collection; therefore, they were removed to the Monroe County Survey 1976 document collection. The Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology (GBL) artifact catalog for this investigation was sent to the VCP electronically, printed on acid free paper, and housed with the associated documentation. Scanned asset numbers were not assigned, because the file was uploaded into the digital imaging database directly from the file sent by GBL.
The digital materials in this collection were processed by the by the Veteran’s Curation Program (VCP), and include the artifact database, artifact report, finding aid, scanned asset key, and select artifact photographs. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include accession cards, additional artifact photographs, box inventory, card stock insert, document folder listing, GBL Catalog, and initial data collection. For additional information on these materials, refer to the Finding Aid.
