POLLEN, STARCH, AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM CERRO JUANAQUERA, MEXICO
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2002
Summary
Five combined pollen, starch, and phytolith samples were examined from Cerro
Juanaquera, Mexico. Because previous pollen analysis at a different lab had determined that there
was insufficient pollen to recommend further analysis, phytolith analysis was requested.
Fortunately, this study was able to examine both the pollen and phytolith records. In addition,
starches are recovered in pollen samples and are reported when they are present. In large part,
this study functions as an examination of the feasibility of both pollen and phytolith analyses at this
site.
