MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS OF RESIDUE FROM A CERAMIC VESSEL, PIKES PEAK, COLORADO
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2002
Summary
A ceramic vessel, recovered on the west side of Pikes Peak, Colorado exhibited charred
residue on the interior. This residue was scraped off for microscopic analysis. In addition, a wash
of the interior surface of the vessel under the residue was collected also for microscopic analysis.
Microscopic analysis included a search for any pollen, phytoliths, or starches visible in the samples
to provide evidence of foods that might have been cooked in the vessel.
