Summary

"Archaeologists with Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the Guerard Mine Tract in Dorchester County, South Carolina, on May 12–13, 2008, as requested by DNA, LLC. ...There are no standing structures on the tract. We identified two archaeological sites (38DR369 and 38DR370) and one isolated find (Isolate 1) during the field investigations. Site 38DR369 is a small Post-Contact ceramic and brick surface scatter located in the eastern portion of the tract. Site 38DR370 is a small Post-Contact surface scatter consisting of several late nineteenth-century artifacts located in the eastern portion of the tract. Isolate 1 is also located in the eastern portion of the tract (see Figure 1). We recommend sites 38DR369 and 38DR370 and Isolate 1 not eligible for the NRHP. No further management consideration of these cultural resources is warranted. The Guerard Mine Tract warrants no further consideration with respect to cultural resources. ..."

There are no standing structures on the tract. Investigators identified two archaeological sites (38DR369 and 38DR370) and one isolated find (Isolate 1) during the survey. These resources lack the potential to contribute meaningful information concerning the Post-Contact use of the project tract or region beyond that recovered to date. We recommend sites 38DR369 and 38DR370 and Isolate 1 not eligible for the NRHP. No further management consideration of these resources is warranted.
