Cultural Resources Survey of the Line 1 Replacement Project

Author(s): Ralph Bailey

Year: 2012

Summary

"In November 2011, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted a cultural resource survey of an 8.1-mile section of an existing natural gas pipeline right-of-way (ROW) near the city of Aiken in Aiken County, South Carolina. The current ROW is 50 feet wide. No new ROW is anticipated for the project. This work was conducted for the Carolina Gas Transmission Corporation through GeoSyntec Consultants, Inc. to determine if the project would affect any historic properties. The project was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, which is administered for this project through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)."

Notes

General Note: "Replacement of the 6.3-mile-long section of the pipeline and use of the two laydown areas will have no effect on historic properties. No new ROW is expected for this project; however, if plans change and ground disturbance is required outside of the 100-foot-wide study area, additional work may be required."
