Summary

At the request of the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) monitored backhoe excavations on the San Xavier District (San Xavier) of the Tohono O'odham Nation in support of the Santa Cruz Bank Stabilization Project. Located north of the San Xavier District Co-op Farm headquarters, the excavations involved removal then recompaction of sediments in two adjacent sinkholes. The purpose of the monitoring was to identify, record, and evaluate any archaeological resources that might be exposed during the course of backhoe excavations. No significant cultural remains were identified. One plain ware sherd collected from the project area was turned over to San Xavier personnel.
