Assessment of the San Francisco Canal, Salt River Project: Photo Log

Author(s): Thomas E. Jones

Year: 2010

Summary

The Bureau of Reclamation, Phoenix Area Office (Reclamation), in consultation with the Salt River Project and the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, is developing a Multiple Property Document (MPD) to nominate the dams and canals that comprise the Salt River Project to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). In 2010, Reclamation contracted Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) to map, photograph, and assess the San Francisco Canal for inclusion in the MPD.

The San Francisco Canal is one of the oldest canals in the Salt River Valley and continues to serve residential Tempe. The assessment demonstrated that the San Francisco Canal no longer retains sufficient integrity to be included within the MPD and listed in the NRHP.

This is the photo log for the photos taken of the San Francisco Canal during the assessment.

The photos from the assessment can be found at tDAR ID: 393981.

The Historic American Engineering Record can be found at tDAR ID: 393149.
