Archaeological Investigations: Coronado Generating Station, State Land, Apache County, Arizona: Final Report for Survey of Proposed Right-of-Way for the Patterson Wellfield Transmission Pipeline

Author(s): A. Stanley Granger

Year: 1977

Summary

On August 22, 1977, the proposed Patterson Wellfield Transmission Pipeline right-of-way was surveyed by the Museum of Northern Arizona. One site, NA15,313 was located during the survey; it is a small sherd and lithic scatter of the Cibola Anasazi culture dating from the Pueblo II or Pueblo III periods situated on a small knoll top in a juniper-sage covered area near the southern end of the right-of-way. It is recommended that the routing of either the proposed right-of-way or the easement boundaries be altered to avoid this site. If this is not possible, other mitigation solutions, such as sample excavations at the site, should be considered.
