Author(s): Michael B. Schiffer

Editor(s): Randall H. McGuire; Michael B. Schiffer

Year: 1978

Summary

This chapter approaches Hohokam chronology from several different but interrelated standpoints. First, I review the history of research in order to ferret out the origins of various ideas about Hohokam chronology. Emphasis is placed on evaluating the methods and evidence that previous investigators used to arrive at their conclusions. Secondly, a new chronology is constructed based on absolute dates. And, finally, suggestions are offered for additional chronological research, especially in the study area.
