Summary

This report documents archaeological investigations by Desert Archaeology, Inc. at six sites in areas to be impacted by activities associated with the construction of State Route 260 (S.R. 260) in the Christopher Creek section (Figure 1). Archaeological field work was conducted at the request of the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The purpose of this report is to provide information to the Tonto National Forest (TNF) and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) demonstrating that the data recovery methods outlined in the project treatment plan (Herr 1999) and the data recovery plan (Herr and Stein 2000) were followed. It also recommends to the TNF that ADOT proceed with planned Phase 1 road construction of this portion of S.R. 260.
