Summary

Site Form for 3PU0456. Site 3PU0456 consists of the remaining portions of the Arkansas Ordnance Plant (AOP) which are found within the Little Rock Air Force Base. The AOP was a government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) facility that was constructed during 1941-1942 and which was closed in 1945. After the plant was closed, the buildings were stripped of equipment and the majority were either demolished or moved. Site 3PU0456 consists of about 20 percent of the original AOP. Almost all of these remains have been impacted by natural or cultural disturbances. No subsurface investigations were undertaken, as there was a significant potential for encountering buried explosives or asbestos. Consequently, several factors combine to make 3PU0456 ineligible for inclusion on the NRHP.
