Peacekeeper Program Component Effect Report #13 Launch Facilities Site Work and Access Roads Modifications (Phase 2)
Summary
Cultural resources survey and archival research conducted for Phase 2 of the Launch Facilities (LF) Site Work and Access Roads Modifications Component (fiscal year 1986) of the Peacekeeper Program resulted in the discovery of eight cultural properties and three isolated artifacts. The Air Force, in consultation with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), has determined that only one of these properties is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). It has further been determined that this Component will have no effect on this NRHP-eligible property.
An inhabited building and its associated outbuildings occur within the proposed extension of one Quantity Distance (QD) safety zone. Two other inhabited buildings and their associated outbuildings are reported to occur within proposed QO safety zone extension areas, but their presence is currently unconfirmed. Specific actions relating to QD requirements will be determined after negotiation with the landowners. If it is necessary to vacate the residences, the complex of structures will be inventoried and evaluated for eligibility for listing in the NRHP. Peacekeeper Program effects and mitigation measures relating to extension of the QDs will be the subject of a supplement to this Component Effect Report (CER).
