Possible Historic Artifact Under Building 323, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming

Part of the F.E. Warren AFB Project Metadata project

Year: 1993

Summary

On December 29, 1992, Mat Control reported the discovery of historic artifacts under the wood floor of Bldg. 323. Inspection revealed that the area under the floor had been filled with material from an unknown dump area prior to the floor being built. The materials consist of military buttons, plumbing fixtures and pipe, '782' gear buckles and keepers, nails, bits of glass and metal, misc. hardware items, and a medicine bottle for filling syringes. The materials were apparently dumped in a landfill which was subsequently used as fill under the floor of #323. The materials have no context and no archaeological value. The fill will be removed prior to the laying of a concrete floor in the building. The fill will be dumped at the edge of the base landfill.
