Monitor of Building 250 Fence Construction
Summary
In August 2002, workers excavating holes for the fence posts surrounding building 250 uncovered the remains of poured concrete foundations about 18" below the present surface, running in an east-west direction. Remains were found in three places. In all cases, the 36-inch drill just nicked the edge of the foundation, resulting in little damage. Since the foundations are on the very edge of the holes, there was no need to dig further. The foundations were left in place. After the fence posts are built, the holes will be backfilled. The base Historic Preservation Officer determined that the remains were not significant, and the project was allowed to proceed.
