Oral History as a Tool of Historical Archaeology: Application on the Dolores Archaeological Project
Summary
Information obtained through ethnographic interviews involving oral history can supplement data collected through archaeological surveys and excavation as well as archival documentation. Duranceau demonstrates how oral history can be used as a tool in historical archaeology to obtain information that is generally not available through other resources. This chapter focuses on the practical approach utilized by the Historic Sites Study of the Dolores Archaeological Project and how this technique applies to the historical archaeology theoretical body of knowledge.
