In the spring of 2005, students with the Legacies on the Landscape project, under the direction of Matt Peeples, located and recorded outlying structures in the vicinity of Pueblo la Plata, on Perry Mesa. Outlying structures were mapped using the tape and compass method, resulting in plan maps by Will Russell.

A large collection of plant materials from various sites excavated along the Navajo Power Project Coal Haul Railroad was studied over a period of two years by Neal Lopinot. Most of the collections were examined before he left the St. Louis region to continue his graduate studies. Three archaeological sites located between Taylor and Shumway, Arizona along State Highway 77 were sampled for pollen analysis. Sites AZ P:12:33(ASM) and AZ P:12:35(ASM) have been tentatively identified as Archaic through the presence of early projectile points, absence of ceramics, and a single radiocarbon age of 690 ± 150 BC from AZ P:12:35(ASM) (Weaver, personal communication, August 11, 1989).
