On November 11, 1976, at the request of Salt River Project, an archaeological clearance investigation of the Barlett Well location and associated access road was conducted by the Museum of Northern Arizona on private land in Apache County, Arizona. During the investigations, one archaeological site was observed, recorded and site boundaries flagged off. A brief description of the archaeological investigations, site description, as well as specific clearance recommendation is given.

The Museum of Northern Arizona conducted an intensive survey for cultural resources at the proposed site of the Concho Pipeline Booster Station and an adjacent access road located north of St. Johns, Apache County, Arizona. Although the area is overlain by abundant pebbles from the Shinarump conglomerate member of the Chinle Formation which would provide lithic resources, no artifacts or sites were found. The Museum of Northern Arizona conducted an intensive survey of the proposed Coronado-Concho Wellfield Distribution transmission line in two phases: 1) a preliminary survey of the entire line (0.75 mi.), and 2) a specific inspection of over 18 pole locations. On March 17, 1978, the Museum of Northern Arizona conducted an archaeological survey of two land parcels in Tonto National Forest proposed by The Salt River Project for construction of the Silverking Substation and an associated microwave repeater station. Only one previously recorded site, NA14,132, was observed. Since the site probably post-dates 1948 and contains virtually no significant archaeological data, archaeological clearance for the two land parcels is recommended.

Between July 10 and July 15, 1977, 3.88 miles of right-of-way expansion was surveyed along the Coronado Generating Station Coal Haul Railroad approximately 18 miles north of St. Johns, Arizona. One prehistoric site was found, a large sherd and lithic scatter of the Cibola Anasazi culture. Six wellsite sets in the Salt River Project Coronado Generating Station Patterson Wellfield were surveyed for archaeological resources by the Museum of Northern Arizona in October, 1976. One archaeological site, NA14,608, was found, requiring the relocation of one wellsite, P-1M. Archaeological clearance is recommended for wellsite sets P-1, P-1M, P-3, P-5, P-11, and P-12.

On September 22, 1977 and October 12, 1977, the Museum of Northern Arizona conducted clearance surveys in the Patterson Wellfield adjacent to the main plant site of the Coronado Station. Well sites P-10 and P-3, and an access road between them, were inspected thoroughly. A proposed well site P-9 and an access road from it to well site P-10 were partially covered in reconnaissance.
