Geoarchaeological Analysis and Landform Characterization of the Melrose Air Force Range, New Mexico (Draft) (1997)
The application of a geoarchaeological perspective in conjunction with known culture history, archaeological survey, remote sensed data, and a geographic information system has produced a workable model for predicting the likelihood of encountering archaeological sites, and the degree of site visibility, on the Melrose Air Force Range, New Mexico. The results of this project, though no substitute for on-the-ground archaeological survey, provides the managers of Melrose Air Force Range a means...
Geographic Information Systems and Prehistoric Cultural Resources of the Melrose Air Force Range (1995)
In fall of 1995. work commenced on the construction of a Geographic Information J360 System (GIS) for the Melrose Air Force Range. The project used ldrisi for Windows version 2.0 to combine archaeological and environmental data in a holistic analysis of prehistoric sites. This allowed researchers to store, query and display data and also to test a proposed empirical model of site distribution. Data exploration and statistical analyses of prehistoric sites associations with environmental...

Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis of Pottery From Sites LA 57469, LA 83733, LA 87371, and LA 87372 Melrose, New Mexico (2004)
Eight samples of pottery from archaeological sites LA87371 , LA87372, and LA873733 near Melrose, New Mexico have been analyzed by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) at the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR). Chris Lowry chose the samples from collections obtained during CRM investigations at the sites. Here, we describe sample preparation and analytical techniques used at MURR and report the subgroup structure identified through quantitative analysis of the...
