Editor(s): Jon S. Czaplicki; John C. Ravesloot

Year: 1989

Summary

This volume is the first of five volumes that report results of the Tucson Aqueduct Phase B Project. The excavation was funded by the United States Bureau of Reclamation under Contract No. 6-CS-30-03500 from December 1985 to December 1988. Volume 1 presents syntheses and interpretations of the analyses that resulted from the investigation of 13 Hohokam sites in the Avra Valley west of Tucson, Arizona.

The Tucson Aqueduct Phase B Project involved excavation or surface collection and mapping of several different kinds of Hohokam sites. Sites investigated during the 1986 and 1987 field seasons included Fastimes (AZ AA:12:384), a group of at least five farmsteads; Water World (AZ AA:16:94), a ballcourt village; two farmstead-field house sites (AZ AA:16:97 and AA:16:161); a so-called protohistoric site(AZ AA:11:26); four limited-activity sites (AZ AA:12:383, AA:12:465, AA:12:481, and AA:12:484— the latter named Hawk's Nest, which excavation revealed to be a small farmstead); and four lithic-quarry sites (AZ AA:16:95, AA:16:96, AA:16:157, and AA:16:175).

This report is Part II of Volume 1 and includes the Chapters 8-15.
