Archaeological Assessment of Three Power Pole Locations Along the Coolidge-Hayden 115kV Powerline East of Florence, Pinal County, Arizona
Author(s): C. Scott Crownover
Year: 1994
Summary
Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) was requested by Dr. Judy Brunson-Hadley of the Salt River Project (SRP) to perform a cultural resource survey for three power pole locations along the existing Coolidge-Hayden 115kV transmission line. A new pole will be erected to connect the proposed Arizona Public Service Company (APS) Bonney Brook Substation near Florence, Pinal County; two other poles along the 115kV transmission line will be replaced. ACS recently completed archaeological testing and data recovery for a related project at AZ U:15:46(ASM), Locus S (Crownover and Troncone 1994), which would be impacted by construction of the substation where two of the SRP poles would be placed. AZ U:15:46(ASM) was determined eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places during data recovery for the Salt-Gila Aqueduct\Central Arizona Project (Teague and Crown 1983). SRP requested the current survey to insure that the proposed power pole installations would not impact recently identified features of AZ U:15:46(ASM), Locus S.
AZ U:15:46 (ASM) is a previously known site, but not investigated during this project. No features or artifacts associated with AZ U:15:46(ASM) were found within the restricted area of the proposed project. Proposed project does not appear to impact archaeological resources at AZ U:15:46(ASM).
