Author(s): Ronald F. Ryden; Michael S. Foster
Year: 2001
Summary
This report presents the results of archaeological testing of a strip of land. The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and the Highland Ranch Construction Co., LLC propose the exchange of land that measures 1,607 feet (490 m) long and 29 feet (9 m) wide. The project parcel is in the proximity of Pueblo del Alamo-AZ T:12:52 (ASM), a prehistoric Hohokam site. Cultural remains associated with the site were observed in the parcel. The testing was done at the request of Highland Ranch Construction Co. to determine if any subsurface archaeological deposits are present within the area of potential effect (APB).
Fieldwork was conducted between September 4 and 6, 2001 by Ronald F. Ryden, Eric Bredemann, and Matthew Peters. A possible prehistoric irrigation canal was identified. Other than the canal, no cultural deposits or features were exposed. A total of 223 m (731.63 feet) of trench was excavated.
