Summary

This report presents the results of a literature search and archaeological field survey for a 35 acre parcel of land in north Scottsdale, Arizona. SWCA was contacted by Environmental Engineering Consultants, Inc. to conduct an archaeological assessment of this parcel in conjunction with site development. The parcel is within a larger development area privately owned by Desert Mountain Properties, Inc. The archaeological assessment of the property was requested to meet the requirements of the City of Scottsdale’s Environmentally Sensitive Lands Ordinance (ESLO). The property involves a roughly rectangular-shaped parcel located in north Scottsdale, Maricopa County, Arizona.

Several sites were identified through a literature search as being near the property and in one case, AZ U:1:31 (ASU), partially within the property. The field survey identified seven prehistoric sites, AZ U:1:112, AZ U:1:113, AZ U:1:114, AZ U:1:115, AZ U:1:116, AZ U:1:117, AZ U:1:118, one historic site - AZ U:1:119, and three prehistoric isolated occurrences.
