The Sobaipuri Indians of the Upper San Pedro River Valley, Southeastern Arizona

Author(s): Charles C. Di Peso

Year: 1953

Summary

This report is an attempt to combine the ethnohistory of the Sobaipuri with archaeological findings. By using the descriptions of these natives penned by their Spanish contemporaries I have endeavored to correlate the archeological remains found at the Sobaipuri sites. To define this effort I have taken the liberty to coin the word "archaeohistory." Each chapter is a complete unit within itself, containing an introduction, a description of materials, and a summary. The other chapters will elaborate upon the individual problems of the Sobaipuri.
