Summary

On June 14, 1994, Rick Bryant monitored the trenching of a communications cable running east west along the south side of the parking lot north of building 330. The trench was about 12-15 inched wide and 30 inches deep. Thirty feet due north of the northeast corner of building 330, at the location shown on the attached map, a pit containing bricks, window glass, a nail (wire or cut or wrought?), several harness buckles with all but one or two inches of the straps cut off, a large buckle (belt or harness?), a 1" by 12" bolt, a 3" by 8" piece of leather with stitching holes in it and stamped "1st SEC.", a partial paint/roofing tar can, and a blob of tar. A sample of the artifacts described was collected before the trench was backfilled. The pit begins 24" below present surface and ends 30+ inches bps.
