An Archaeological Survey of the Mead-Davis-Parker 230 KV Transmission Line #2

Author(s): George A. Bondley; Richard H. Brooks

Year: 1973

Summary

At the request of the Arizona Archaeological Center, National Park Service, Tucson, Arizona, an archaeological inventory was made of a proposed 230 Kv transmission line right-of-way corridor for the Central Arizona Project. This survey was undertaken in support of the initial environmental assessment of the Granite Reef Aqueduct portion of the Central Arizona Project.

The survey corridor stretched from Boulder City, Nevada, to Davis Dam, Nevada, and from there to Parker Dam, Arizona. Six historic and twenty-five prehistoric archaeological sites, for a total of thirty-one sites, were recorded during the archaeological reconnaissance. All sites were recommended as potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register. The authors recommended that the surface artifacts should be collected and test pits excavated at each site.
