Agricultural terraces from two sites on Perry Mesa (La Plata and Bull Tank) and one site at the north edge of Black Mesa (Richinbar Ruin) were investigated using pollen analysis. POLLEN ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM SITE 5GN2478, CURECANTI NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, COLORADO (1995)
Site 5GN2478 is located near the Blue Mesa Reservoir within the Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado. The site contains a pithouse structure (Feature 7), approximately 3 meters in diameter. There is currently no age associated with this feature. A probable metate was recovered from within Feature 7 and was washed for pollen. Pollen analysis of the wash residue was undertaken in order to help determine possible plant types processed on the metate and within Feature 7.

In June of 1977 an intense forest fire took place in Bandelier National Monument and on adjacent United States Forest Service lands burning approximately 15,270 acres. A significant number of archaeological sites were differentially affected by the fire and the La Mesa Fire Study was initiated by the National Park Service to determine the various effects of fire on archaeological sites and materials.

Archaeological salvage of site LA 48732, located approximately 5 miles northwest of Laguna Pueblo on I-40J resulted in the analysis of five macrofloral samples and one pollen sample. This Anasazi site was occupied during the Pueblo II period, and contains a pitstructure and several extramural features, including basin-shaped hearths and a roasting pit.
