During the excavation of a backhoe trench for the repair of the electrical distribution system, a buried cultural horizon was encountered. Construction was halted and the Base Archaeologist visited the site to evaluate the material. Further excavation was monitored. The completed trench revealed a lens-shaped deposit approximately 15 meters long with a maximum depth of 0.75 meter and a minimum depth of 0.15 M. During the excavation of a backhoe trench for a sewer pipe adjacent to building 320, portions of a concrete foundation and undocumented water pipes and a cistern were discovered along the south and east sides of Building 320. Records research revealed no plans of these structures. Because the remains appear to date to the 1940s or even more recently and are undocumented, they are not significant and no further work is recommended.

Summary of findings for Phase II investigations of 12 sites on Arnold Air Force Base in Coffee and Franklin Counties, Tennessee. The Phase II investigations served to both confirm previously identified cultural components and identify previously unrecorded occupations. Of the 12 sites investigated, only 40CF124 is recommended as eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
