Cultural Resource Inventory Report: 48LA71NN, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, August 1985
Summary
During the excavation of a backhoe trench for the repair of the electrical distribution system, a buried cultural horizon was encountered. Construction was halted and the Base Archaeologist visited the site to evaluate the material. Further excavation was monitored. The completed trench revealed a lens-shaped deposit approximately 15 meters long with a maximum depth of 0.75 meter and a minimum depth of 0.15 M. Datable artifacts indicated a probable date range of 1890 to 1905. It was determined that the deposit should be considered eligible for the National Register as a component of the Ft D.A. Russell Historic District. It has been designated 48LA71NN. No further archaeological investigation is recommended at this time.
