During the excavation of a backhoe trench for the repair of the electrical distribution system, a buried cultural horizon was encountered. Construction was halted and the Base Archaeologist visited the site to evaluate the material. Further excavation was monitored. During the week of 13 August 1985, a pedestrian cultural resource survey was conducted on the parcel of land between Frontier Avenue and Diamond Creek. The survey area consisted of approximately 38 acres. Two sites and one isolated artifact were located. Prehistoric site 48LA555 does not appear to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
