Seven archaeological sites and 26 isolated finds were recorded during a recent survey of the right-of-way and access roads for the proposed Palo Verde to Westwing Transmission Line. The sites ranged from Hohokam camps and special-purpose, limited activity sites to Anglo homesteads of the early 20th century. On August 22, 1977, the proposed Patterson Wellfield Transmission Pipeline right-of-way was surveyed by the Museum of Northern Arizona. One site, NA15,313 was located during the survey; it is a small sherd and lithic scatter of the Cibola Anasazi culture dating from the Pueblo II or Pueblo III periods situated on a small knoll top in a juniper-sage covered area near the southern end of the right-of-way. In May 1976, at the request of the Salt River Project, an archaeological clearance investigation of 16 20-acre mining claims on Bureau of Land Management land and a quarter section of state land south of St. Johns, Arizona, was conducted by the Museum of Northern Arizona. 18 archaeological sites were located and recorded. A brief description of the investigations, the project area, and the archaeological situation encountered is given.

Between July 10 and July 15, 1977, 3.88 miles of right-of-way expansion was surveyed along the Coronado Generating Station Coal Haul Railroad approximately 18 miles north of St. Johns, Arizona. One prehistoric site was found, a large sherd and lithic scatter of the Cibola Anasazi culture. It is recommended that the portion of the site within the expanded right-of-way be mapped and recorded.
