Summary

This report presents the results of an archaeological pre-construction testing program completed at the location of the Off-Street Transit Center (Transit Center) at the southwest corner of 44th and Washington streets, within the City of Phoenix. The property is shaped like a right triangle measuring approximately 206 m (686 ft) from east to west and 127 m (422 ft) north to south. The parcel is bounded on the north and east by Washington Street and 44th Street, respectively. The southern boundary of the parcel, the hypotenuse of the right triangle) is formed by the Grand Canal. The parcel is located in the N1/2 of Section 7 of Township 1 North, Range 4 East (Gila and Salt River Baseline and Meridian).
